JÁSZBERÉNY, Hungary, 19 June -- The latest CeAuto Newsletter features another worldwide exclusive as environmental planning documents revealed that South Korean precision parts manufacturer Sang Sin Energy Display Precision Ltd. (Sangsin EDP) intends to begin production of aluminium components for lithium-ion electric vehicle batteries in Jászberény, 80 km
from Budapest.
The company plans to refurbish an existing 4,170 square metre facility on a 4.2 hectares site, previously owned by ELOY Hungary Kft. Local subsidiary company Sangsin Hungary Kft. is looking to employ 117 workers by next year, with 87 employees to be engaged in production in a three-shift working schedule. The facility will manufacture aluminium cans, which are core components of secondary batteries. South Korea’s Samsung GDI inaugurated its Hungarian Li-ion automotive battery factory in Göd in 2017. Japanese GS Yuasa said last year it is investing HUF 8.8 billion (€27.3 million) in a Li-ion battery assembly plant in Miskolc and SK Innovation’s Battery Division is currently establishing its first European location in Komárom.
