Kia Slovakia Posts Record Month in Car Production

Kia Motors Slovakia has produced more than 253,000 cars in 2012; it could reach last year’s production already at the beginning of November.

In October, Kia Motors Slovakia produced more than 30,000 cars, reaching a year-on-year monthly production increase by 35 percent. Since the volume production launch in December 2006, it has been a record monthly result in the history of the company.
KMS has produced more than 253,000 vehicles so far this year. Thanks to the introduction of a third working shift at the beginning of this year as well as the production launch of two new cee’d models, the plant already reached last year's output earlier in November. The rcent production increase has been linked to the orders for the new Kia Sportswagon distributed throughout Europe since the end of August.

"This year, we plan to produce 285,000 cars. I am very pleased that thanks to the hard work of our skillful employees we are able to manage to fulfill our target.”, said Eek-Hee Lee, President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia.

During the first ten months of 2012 Kia in Slovakia recorded a year-on-year increase in cee'd and Sportage production; 10 percent and 41 percent respectively. Moreover, more than 397,000 engines were assembled during the same period, which means a 29 percent growth year-on-year.

KMS also plans to launch volume production of the new pro_cee'd in the first quarter of 2013. Its trial production as well as the employees’ trainings in R&D center, Namyang, South Korea, or in Slovakia, is currently in progress.
