Lada Granta Enters Mass Production at AvtoVAZ

Sales of the Granta will begin in early December, but the company began taking orders for the new model already in September. The Granta will be available in three trim levels (’standard’, ’norma’ and ’lux’) and with three petrol engine options (1.6l 84hp, 1.6l 90hp and 1.6 16V 98hp), all connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Automatic transmission will appear as an option on ’lux’ models from the second half of 2012. Prices for the Lada Granta in the base set will start from RUB229,000 (app. €5,500). The Granta is based on the Lada Kalina, but it uses about 400 unique components, including a new front-end and upgraded front and rear suspension.
AvtoVAZ plans to produce 150 thousand units of the Granta next year, but this plan may be adjusted depending on market conditions.
