Production of the all-new Toyota Camry started today at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia (TMMR). The all-new Toyota Camry is offered with a choice of two petrol engines: a newly developed 4-cylinder, 2.5-litre petrol engine, and an upgraded 3.5-litre, Euro V compliant, V6 petrol engine. Both engine variants are fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission, offering reduced fuel consumptions of 24% and 8% respectively between the powertrains.
From the second half of 2010, a comprehensive training programme was introduced for members on the assembly line, designed to further improve built-in quality levels.
TMMR started production in December 2007 with a production capacity 20,000 vehicles a year. The St. Petersburg plant currently operates one shift, employing 1,200 people.
