AvtoVAZ to Produce Lada Kalina-Based EV

Production of 100 ELLADA electric cars is planned next year. According to Yevgeny Shmelyov, AvtoVAZ’s Vice President for Technical Development, the Lada Kalina-based EV will cost twice the price of the petrol-engined Kalina, which costs from 280 to 390 thousand rubles (app. €6.700-8.600) depending on equipment and motorization. The cars will appear in Kislovodsk and at the Mineralnye Vody International Airport, where 10 battery chargers will be installed.

The ELLADA weights 1,200kg, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 13 seconds. It has a single-charge range of 140km. Battery charging time will take about 8 hours using the 220V home electrical network.
