Bosch May Open a New Plant in Romania

Germany’s Robert Bosch GmbH is reportedly in advanced negotiations with authorities about an investment in the Tetarom Industrial Park in Cluj-Napolca, western Romania, county council president Alin Tise said last Friday. The company is looking to hire 1,000 workers in the initial stage.

Bosch, which is the world’s largest automotive industry supplier, has made investments in three Romanian cities so far-Blaj, Bucharest and Timisoara, in the field of distribution of car components, electric tools, import and distribution of electrical home appliances and parts for the machine industry.

Last year Bosch had 1,135 employees in Romania, which represented a 21% growth compared to 2009. The company estimates for 2011 an increase in turnover by 7% to €172 million. Last year, Bosch reported a turnover of €161 million, up 17% compared to 2009. Up to 60% of the company’s turnover in Romania comes from the auto segment, which covers the aftermarket parts sales and components for car manufacturers.
