Johnson Controls Plans Second Plant in Macedonia

US-based supplier Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI), is planning to invest €20 million in the construction of a manufacturing plant in the eastern Macedonian city of Stip. The project calls for the construction of a cut & trim plant for car seats in the Stip Technological Industrial Development Zone. The investment is said to create about 1400 new jobs. Contracts are due to be signed in the next two to three weeks, while the construction of the plant will start in mid-October.
The new plant will be dedictated to the production of car seat covers and it is expected to start operations within a year to serve European clients.

Macedonia project manager Steven Meylemans said Macedonia was picked as a business destination, because it is competitive and first and foremost due to the support and professionalism offered by domestic institutions.

Johnson Controls already operates an electronics components plant in the country's capital of Skopje.
