VW Slovakia to Reach Full Capacity Next Year

Volkswagen has reaffirmed expectations that its plant in Bratislava, Slovakia will reach full annual capacity of 400,000 units next year, Reuters reports, citing VW Slovakia CEO Andreas Tostmann.

Volkswagen is planning to invest an additional €1 billion in the euro zone country by 2015, wants to boost output capacity with the introduction of a new small car, due this autumn.

Last year the Bratislava plant produced 144,510 vehicles, up from 106,000 cars in 2009, with revenues rising by 37.4% year-on-year to €4.04 billion. The company's production almost doubled in the first six months of this year, driven by the increaseing demand for its Audi Q7 Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg SUVs.
