The up! will be built in Bratislava, Slovakia, and will be launched in the European market in December. The first models will be three-door hatchbacks with four seats, with a new generation of three-cylinder petrol engines producing 44 kW/60 PS and 55 kW/75 PS.
Later on, three-door and five-door models will be available for the Volkswagen, SEAT and Skoda brands. Natural gas and electric versions are also planned.
The New Small Family Project was officially launched at the Bratislava plant on November 23rd, 2009. The German car maker invested a total of €308 million in the project, expanding the plant’s annual production capacity to 400,000 units and creating jobs for additional 1,500 workers.
