Maruti Suzuki to Reduce Exports to Hungary

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said last week it would drastically reduce the export of diesel engines to Hungary, mainly to concentrate on the domestic market, reported RTT News quoting Managing Executive Officer Mayank Pareek.

At present, the company exports around 35 to 45 thousand units every year to Hungary and would reduce it to almost negligible levels in the next six months. The additional engines that the company gets after cutting down on exports will go for the Swift in India, he said.

The company plans to increase production of the Swift to 18 thousand units a month from 1,000 units earlier to cut short waiting period, in view of increasing competition from new entrants like the the Ford Figo, Toyota Liva and Volkswagen Polo, besides Honda's upcoming Brio.
