Strong recovery for the Bosch Group in Hungary

The Bosch Group in Hungary has returned to a course of strong growth in business year 2010. The 11 Hungarian subsidiaries of the technology and service provider reached sales of 401 billion forints, including internal deliveries. This represents an increase of 27 percent year-over-year. Sales of the Bosch Group on the Hungarian market rose by 8% to HUF118 billion. Nearly HUF21 billion were invested, for the major part into the expansion of the manufacturing facilities at Hatvan and Miskolc. Expenditure for R&D amounted to HUF11 billion. At a press conference in Budapest, presenting 2010 results and medium-term plans, Thomas Beyer, Representative of the Bosch Group in Hungary, said, “For the current business year, we expect more than 10 percent further growth, especially in the automotive technology sector.” On 1 January 2011, the Bosch Group in Hungary employed 6 300 people directly.

The rapid growth of the Hungarian subsidiaries, and particularly the Engineering Center Budapest, has necessitated a new Bosch headquarters in Budapest, and construction will start in summer 2011. The new building is slated to open in 2013 and will represent an investment of nearly 6 billion forints. It will hold the commercial operations, Bosch Rexroth Kft. and part of the Engineering Center Budapest. For Thomas Beyer, this project is a confirmation that “Bosch is committed to Hungary, is convinced of the competitiveness of its engineers and its skills, and sees its investments in this country as pillars of global value creation.”

One of the largest investments in 2010 was the new production hall for Robert Bosch Energy and Body Systems Kft. of Miskolc, which will be officially opened this autumn. The new development created 550 new jobs for the region in 2010 and is continuously creating more employment as the new production lines are commissioned. Robert Bosch Elektronika Kft. of Hatvan, the largest Bosch plant in Hungary, is also constantly expanding, providing long-term employment at all levels from trainees to experienced engineers.
