PSA to Boost Output, Add Third Model at Trnava Plant

PSA Peugeot Citroën is to invest over €120 million (approx. $188 million) to add a third model at its Slovak assembly plant.

The investment will create 900 new jobs at the Trnava site, CEO Philippe Varin announced at an official meeting with Prime Minister Iveta Radicova earlier this week. The new model is expected to enter mass production next year, when the company will to launch a third shift and boost annual output to a maximum capacity of 300,000 vehicles.

The Slovak site currently builds assembles the Peugeot 207 subcompact and the Citroen C3 Picasso small MPV. 187,000 cars rolled off the assembly line last year in Trnava, which is about 8% less compared to 2009.
